Less than 24 hours to the start of the 2009 Finals

By Anthony Caruso III

We are less than 24 hours before the tipoff of the 2009 NBA Finals. The Finals this year features one of the most storied basketball franchises against a team making just their second-ever appearance.

The Los Angeles Lakers are making their 30th appearance in the Finals. And this is the second straight year the Lakers have made it to the Finals. They lost in 6 games to the Boston Celtics last year.

Also, this is Kobe Bryant's second chance at winning a Championship without Shaquille O'Neal, his former teammate. The Lakers are just 3-and-8 in the Finals since 2004 - O'Neal's last year with the team. Will that change this year? That is yet to be seen.

Before this year, O'Neal's 1995 team was the only team in Orlando Magic history to reach the Finals. They were swept by the Houston Rockets in 4 games. This Magic team is hoping to change that faith and bring home the Larry O'Brien trophy to Disney Land.

The Magic were 2-0 vs. the Lakers already this season. That was with Jameer Nelsonm, who may be able to play limited minutes after a February shoulder injury. This is shaping up to be a good series to watch.
