The Bucks are not expected to keep Bruce Bowen

By Anthony Caruso III

The Milwaukee Bucks are not expected to keep Bruce Bowen. Bowen was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks on draft night for Richard Jefferson. Bowen, Kurt Thomas, and Fabricio Oberto were sent to Milwaukee for Jefferson.

Bowen is expected to be released by August 1st. By releasing Bowen by August 1st, the Bucks will avoid paying Bowen the guaranteed $2 million portion of his contract for next season. Bowen has a $4 million salary for next season.

Before being released, the Bucks are shopping Bowen around. There will not be many suitors for a 38-year-old small forward, who has just played off the bench last season. He appeared in 80 games last season. The Bucks will hope to get a similar deal that get got for Oberto when they shipped him to Detroit for Amir Johnson.

The Spurs are not expected to bring back Bowen if he is released. Bowen might be forced to retire, because it will be hard for him to find a job in the league, again.
