Nash might be traded to Portland for Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw, among others

By Anthony Caruso III

The Phoenix Suns are more willing than ever before to explode and start over. First, Shaquille O’Neal was moved. There have been rumored about Amar’e Stoudemire being moved for several weeks. Now, there are rumors about the heart and soul of the team, Steve Nash, being moved.

According to a source, the Blazers have offered Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw, one or two more players and potentially a first-round pick, to make salaries work to Phoenix for Steve Nash. Phoenix would like to rebuild and get younger fast. Both Blake and Outlaw had their options picked up earlier this off-season.

It is unknown if Nash would like to play for Portland. Nash resides in New York during the off-season, which just happens to be the same city that former coach Mike D’Antoni moved to last year. D’Antoni coached the Suns for several years when Nash returned to the Valley of the Sun in 2004 after playing for Dallas for 8 years. Nash has said that he would like to play for D’Antoni again, which would likely come in New York, if he doesn’t get traded away or re-signs with Phoenix.

Nash is only under contract for the 2009-10 season. Nash is due to make $13.1 million next season. He could be one of the most historic free agent in the summer of 2010.
